Himalayan Dog Chew Review
I first read about the Himalayan Dog Chew from The House of Two Bows and read about them from forums and other blogs so I decided to give it a try since it worked so well for them.
I bought the chew from Whole Pets, it was $8.99 for a medium sized piece -- pretty pricey compared to bully sticks but hopefully will last a bit longer since Mac goes through those real quick. As I bought the chew the store owner was telling me that they started carrying the Himalayan Dog Chew because so many people requested them, I take that as a good sign!
The chew does not have a strong odor and Mac did not show as much interest in them compared to the bully sticks, but he does settle down and lick / chew on it at least once a night. The chew is very hard and chips away, which made me a little worry for Mac's teeth but so far no issue. It has been a week and Mac chewed off about 1/5 of it; although I suspect the lack of interest may also explain why it survived for so long.
Overall I think it is a good chew to have for Mac, it provides variety and something that he will not destroy right away. Although your mileage may vary depending on how much your dog likes yak or cow milk!

I’m glad you were able to find the chews in your area. I think they’re pretty neat, and while I do find them smelly, it’s a much more pleasant smell than bully sticks or hooves.
Also, someone on the Shiba forums had a brilliant idea about microwaving the smaller pieces — if you don’t microwave them very long, they turn into yak cheese puffs. Amazing.
